Quebec Casinos to Reopen on February 28

Canada.- Loto-Quebec has announced that it will reopen casinos in the Canadian province from February 28. The Montreal, Charlevoix and Lac-Leamy casinos and Quebec City and Trois-Rivières gaming rooms will reopen while Loto-Québec will also reactivate video lottery terminals in bars and resume Kinzo operations. It plans to reopen the Casino de Mont-Tremblant on March 3.

Casino capacity will be limited to 50 per cent and opening hours will vary according to the establishment. Vaccination passports will be required and masks will be mandatory for employees and guests in the gaming areas.

The Quebec government plans to lift Covid-19 restrictions by mid-March.

Premier François Legault said:

“We will need to learn to live with the virus. There may be the sixth wave eventually, but we will have to live with Covid.”

“I just want to tell Quebecers that I understand that you’re fed up with these restrictions. But at the same time, I think it’s important that we remember why we have put in place these measures.”

On December 20, Quebec announced it was reintroducing Covid-19 countermeasures due to the rapid growth of cases. Health minister Christian Dube announced that bars, movie theatres, and entertainment venues would be closed.
